  • American Revolution ends

    • The end of the American Revolution was basically the beginning of everything that has to do with America, including the start of people identifying themselves as American, believing in the American ideals, and, overall, the start of America.

    • In relation to the image, this fact shows how after the war ended, Norman felt it was necessary to portray American identity and nationalism in this image.

  • Treaty of Paris

    • The Treaty of Paris, signed in Paris in 1783 by George Washington and other representatives, essentially ended the American Revolutionary War. This was basically the paper evidence of the end of the Revolutionary War.

    • In relation to the image, this fact shows that this one piece of paper changed the way people viewed the battles. After the American "victory," these battles and more were kept sacred and expected to be honored every day; but, if America lost, everything would be different
